The idea constitutionalism overlaps with the nation of "limited government" and the "rule of law".At its basic minimum, constitutionalism implies fidelity to the letter of the constitution by citizens and officials of the state. Citizens must accept the limits on their freedoms. Officials must observe the limits on their powers. They should hold and derive their powers from specific laws and should act with respect for legality and constitutionality. There must be congruence between official action and the stated rule.en_US
