Abstract: | In Borneo local newspaper has been an important source of information to the public. This is due to the delay in deliveries of national newspapers especially in the rural areas. Nowadays, printed newspaper has starting 10 be phased out by the online equivalent technology has improved; therefore the retrieval of latest news is no longer an issue. However, most of the local newspaper publishers do not have their news archive. As a result, it is difficult for users to capture dated news. This research analyses the act of preservation of local newspaper article by information agencies in Borneo. The issues that will be discussed are the preservation policies, the procedure and access of archival news to the public. This paper also attempts to determine the development of digital libraries and access to news archives. The findings recommend that collaboration among information agencies in Borneo in the Preservation of local newspaper articles will not only benefit the public, it will also sustain the knowledge and history of the local community for the future generation. |
