dc.description.abstractIn recent years there has been a signific ant increase in the use of chemicals in the workplace . All chemicals are potentially dangerous and can pose hazards to the workers in many ways. The root causes of the problems associated with chemicals, however relate to the management system. They may be due to inexistence of policies and procedures, lack of supervision and its effectiveness, training, etc. This paper discusses the importance of management's policies and their strategy, identifies the likely safety and health organisation for the implementation of the programmes and finally, discusses the key components of a chemical safety programmes.en_US
