Abstract: | The idea of good governance has become increasingly important not only for the public sector, but also for the voluntary sector. The growing number of NGOs (non-governmental organisations), which led to a tougher competition for funding, has encouraged NGOs to develop a good governance . .Moreover, donors' demand for more professionalism and accountability has prompted many NGOs to adopt a more or less professional management. However, working in the ambiguous zone between "bureaucracy" and "private " sectors, NGOs tend to face difficulties in implementing good governance. III Indonesia, lhe growing number of NGOs in the post-Suharto era has created a situation in which NGOs are demanded to increase their professionalism and accountability. However, different orientations, size, scope and capacity have obstructed NGOs' attempt to exercise good governance. |
