Supply chain integration is important for manufacturers to strategically manage all organizational processes, flows of information, materials and money resources, in order to enhance supply chain performance. Previous studies have also highlighted the role of knowledge sharing in enhancing supply chain performance. Underpinned by transaction cost theory, knowledge-based view and contingency theory, this study examines the relationship between supply chain integration, knowledge sharing and supply chain performance. This study investigates the moderating effect of environmental uncertainty and examines the mediating effect of knowledge sharing between these variables. The environmental uncertainty is hypothesized to moderate the relationship between supply chain integration and supply chain performance. It also plays a moderating role between knowledge sharing and the supply chain performance. Furthermore, knowledge sharing is hypothesized to mediate supply chain integration and supply chain performance. Data was collected through a survey on 277 managers from manufacturing industry in Jordan. The hypotheses were tested using PLS structural equation modelling. The results of this study reveal that supply chain integration has a positive impact on supply chain performance. It is also found that knowledge sharing plays a partial mediating role between supply chain integration and supply chain performance. With regard to environmental uncertainty, it was found to reduce the effects of supply chain integration on supply chain performance. However, contrary to earlier expectations, environmental uncertainty does not moderate the relationship between knowledge sharing and supply chain performance. The results of this study contribute significantly to both theory and practice. Theoretically, it incorporates all research variables in a whole equation to better understand the effect of supply chain integration and knowledge sharing on supply chain performance. This study also explains the importance of environmental uncertainty in determining the shape of the relationship between supply chain integration and supply chain performance. Practically, the results of this study provide useful guidelines for managers and practitioners. Since environmental uncertainty is an influencing external factor, managers and practitioners need to consider strategies to mitigate its negative effect. Finally, study limitations and suggestions for future research are also described.,Ph.D.
