Description: This study aimed to unveil the fate of the Baba and Nyonya identity while coping with the pressure of modernity and globalization. Along the efforts of clarifying the current identity markers of the Baba and Nyonya community, endurance and continuance of the identity were also examined. Inspired by Carspecken's critical qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews and observations were conducted with six Baba and Nyonya individuals throughout a year in order to document the annual key events and celebrations observed. Participants were interviewed individually, beginning with a few lead-off questions. Data were then analysed based on the researcher's interpretation of Chandler's concept of social codes"
