The current limitation in theoretical knowledge and literature were indicative on the need to broaden the understanding on the association between emotional intelligence, job satisfaction, work engagement, and organizational commitment among teaching staffs in private higher educational institutions. Hence, the present research aimed to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence, job satisfaction, work engagement and organizational commitment. Moreover, this research examined the role of work engagement in mediating the relationships between emotional intelligence with job satisfaction and organizational commitment, respectively. Additionally, examination of socio-demographic variables consisting of gender, age, education level and years of working experience in predicting the dependent variables was also conducted. A total of 361 participants comprising of teaching staffs participated in this research by completing a questionnaire encompassing sociodemographic details, questions related to emotional intelligence, job satisfaction, work engagement and organizational commitment. Descriptive and inferential statistics were applied to analyze all proposed hypotheses in this research. The partial least squares (PLS) analysis technique was adopted to determine the relationships between the variables. The research finding showed that emotional intelligence did not influence job satisfaction but positively influenced work engagement and organizational commitment. Teaching staffs who obtained high scores in job satisfaction and work engagement were found to be highly committed to the institution. Subsequently, the results of the research found that work engagement acted as an intermediary in the relationship between emotional intelligence and organizational commitment. Further analysis revealed that demographic factors were also a significant predictor factor of work engagement. This research suggests that the importance of emotional intelligence among teaching staffs in Malaysia should be given a stronger emphasis towards producing more dynamic lecturers. Besides, this research also proposes several implications and interventions to improve emotional intelligence through training, appropriate human resource policies and inculcate a positive work environment.,'Certification of Masters/Doctoral Thesis' is not available,Ph.D.-
