This research is an ecocritical reading of selected works of Pablo Neruda, a twenty century figure of Latin American and Nobel Prize winning poet. Albeit known for his political positions due to his anti-imperialist stance. The study aims to reposition Neruda as an ecopoet in a new approach of ecocritical reading. An ecopoetic enquiry of Neruda's selected poems is in essence an examination of his thought, ideology and consciousness relating to the significance of the nature that focuses on man's relationship with the natural world from ecological, biological and ethical perspectives. This study employs the theoretical framework of ecocriticism focuses on the relationship between man and the physical world. The research amalgamates the interdisciplinary perspectives of Bryson, Scigaj, Bennett and Snyder through their works in deep ecology and ecopoetry to explore the interconnectedness and interdependency of all human to nature in Neruda's selected works. The research corpus comprises of more than fifteen collections and eighty selected poems that portray fifty years of Neruda's poetic life. The analysis of the poems reveals the celebration of the wilderness and placing man as an integral part of the nature while revealing a gap within and highlighting the holistic attributes of nature, while at the same time advocating humility and placing the equal value to man and nature. The analysis also touches the ecopoetical concepts such as place, ethics, self and spirituality. The findings depict Neruda's ideology viewing poetry as a means of the resistance and a struggle to cope with the social upheavals. The implications of this study indicate a new literary demonstration of Neruda's poetic quest focusing on the importance of nature and poetry as a means to find our identity and place in the physical world.,Certification of Master's/Doctoral Thesis" is not available-
