dc.description | Foster families are very important to orphan children to provide for their emotional and physical needs and to compensate them for the care that are missing due to the absence of their biological parents. However, some fostered children are returned to orphanages and as a result they suffer from social and psychological adjustment problems that need to be solved with the help of social workers. This study is about fostered female orphans that were returned to orphanages, and the sociopsychological adjustment problems they faced and the roles of social workers in assisting them to overcome their problems. Using both the qualitative and quantitative methods, this study was conducted among returned fostered female orphans to orphanages in Tripoli and Benghazi cities, Libya. Purposive sampling technique was used to sample 53 fostered female orphans between the ages of 12 to 20 years old who were returned to the orphanages. The study found that the returned fostered children face problems adjusting to the environment and system of the orphanages. They faced difficulties forming new relationships with other orphans and the social workers. The children are also found to suffer from psychological adjustment problems. Their feeling of attachment to the foster families had led them to feel a sense of loss and to miss the family relationships. The study also found that the social workers play important roles to help returned children adjust to their new situations, new environment, and to assist them to form new social relationships with other orphans in the orphanages. From the findings it can be concluded that the returned fostered children face both social and psychological adjustment problems related to their new situations and environment that require interventions by the social workers to help them accept and adjust to their new social status as well the new environment.,Keluarga angkat adalah amat penting untuk memberi penjagaan kepada anak-anak yatim bertujuan memenuhi keperluan emosi dan fizikal mereka selain untuk memberi penjagaan yang mereka tidak peroleh disebabkan telah kehilangan ibu bapa asal.
