One of the aspirations of the Malaysian Education Blueprint for Higher Education (MEB-HE) was built on the aspiration in the Malaysian Education Blueprint (MEB) that each student will be proficient in at least Bahasa Malaysia and English and encouraged to learn one additional global language. This is in line with the Memertabatkan Bahasa Malaysia Memperkukuh Bahasa Inggeris (MBMMBI) policy. Hence, the Ministry continues to encourage each Higher Learning Institution (HLI) to decide on the best initiatives to ensure proficiency of graduates in Bahasa Malaysia and English. This sets the aim of the current study which is to explore the implementation practices of the MBMMBI policy. The study was conducted at one purposively chosen public university; named Public University (PU - pseudonym). PU was founded in response to uphold the Malay Language as the national language. Yet, with its status of a research university, the use of English in the programmes conducted was unavoidable. This provided a unique context to be explored in a Case Study research design. The methods of data collection were observations conducted in lectures as the main data source, and triangulated with semi-structured interviews and document analyses. Findings indicated the absence of clear cut or specific instructions on the use of BM and or English in the academic activities that would reflect the implementation practices of the MBMMBI policy. Discussion of the findings led to several implications and recommendation that can contribute to the attainment of BM and English proficiency aspired in the MBMMBI policy,Ph.D-
