dc.descriptionThis study seeks to examine the possibilities of promoting continuing professional development (CPD) and networking among six non-native speakers of Japanese language in-service teachers through a self-directed mode of professional development. It utilizes a two-tiered e-portfolio: individual and group based portfolio development on the Google Site platform. The study is designed to determine i) the extent of the development of individual e-portfolios in enhancing the participating teachers' personal and professional development, ii) the extent of the development of group e-portfolio in enabling the creation of a community of practice, and networking among them, and iii) identify challenges faced by them in developing the e-portfolio. The six participating teachers (1 male and 5 female) were teaching Japanese language in the secondary schools in six various states at the beginning of the study. This long term case study of a three-year duration employed four developmental phases for data collection comprising three email interviews, a face-to-face interview, documentation examination throughout the study, online questionnaire as well as e-portfolio content analysis and evaluation at the end of the study period. Data analysis was an ongoing process of coding and re-coding throughout the four phases of the study. Cohen's Kappa interrater reliability measure by three inter-raters was at 0.917, an almost perfect agreement". The findings indicated that generally-
