dc.description | Kajian ini bertujuan untuk membina profil dan memeriksa tahap kecekapan kaunseling pelbagai budaya dalam kalangan guru kaunseling sekolah menengah. Kajian ini juga cuba untuk mengenalpasti tahap kecekapan kaunseling pelbagai budaya dan perbezaannya berdasarkan faktor demografi seperti jantina, umur, bangsa, tahap pendidikan, pengalaman profesionalisme dan lokasi sekolah. Kajian ini juga cuba untuk mendapatkan maklumbalas daripada responden kajian tentang kefahaman, kepentingan dan latihan kaunseling pelbagai budaya serta strategi-strategi yang digunakan dan faktor-faktor yang boleh meningkatkan kecekapan kaunseling pelbagai budaya. Kajian ini dijalankan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif (mixed method). Pendekatan kuantitatif dijalankan secara tinjauan menggunakan soal selidik kecekapan kaunseling pelbagai budaya ke atas 275 orang sampel kajian di negeri Selangor. Soal selidik ini mengukur tiga domain kecekapan kaunseling pelbagai budaya iaitu kesedaran, pengetahuan dan kemahiran. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan perisian SPSS 20.0. Statistik deskriptif dijalankan dengan menggunakan frekuensi dan peratus manakala statistik inferensi dijalankan menggunakan ANOVA. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan tahap kecekapan kaunseling pelbagai budaya dalam kalangan guru kaunseling sekolah menengah berada pada tahap tinggi. Dapatan kajian hanya menunjukkan terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan tahap kecekapan kaunseling pelbagai budaya berdasarkan tahap pendidikan guru kaunseling. Pendekatan kualitatif pula dijalankan menggunakan kaedah kajian kes di mana temubual mendalam telah dijalankan ke atas 15 orang responden kajian yang mempunyai tahap kecekapan yang tinggi dan sangat tinggi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan perisian Nvivo 8. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan responden kajian mempunyai kefahaman yang baik tentang budaya, pelbagai budaya, kecekapan budaya dan kecekapan kaunseling pelbagai budaya. Responden kajian juga bersetuju bahawa kecekapan ini penting dalam perkhidmatan kaunseling kerana ianya dapat melancarkan proses kaunseling, membina hubungan terapeutik, memahami pandangan dunia klien dan meningkatkan keberkesanan sesi kaunseling. Responden kajian juga menyatakan bahawa mereka hanya menerima latihan secara formal tentang kaunseling pelbagai budaya dan teori kaunseling pelbagai budaya yang membawa banyak kebaikan dalam perkhidmatan kaunseling yang disediakan. Responden kajian juga mempunyai pelbagai strategi yang digunakan untuk meningkatkan kecekapan ini. Selain itu, terdapat juga faktor-faktor lain yang dapat meningkatkan kecekapan ini iaitu faktor diri, ciri-ciri guru kaunseling dan aplikasi ICT dalam perkhidmatan kaunseling. Kajian ini memberi implikasi terhadap teori kaunseling pelbagai budaya terutamanya dari segi kesesuaiannya dengan budaya tempatan dalam meningkatkan kecekapan kaunseling pelbagai budaya kepada pengamal kaunseling di Malaysia.,This study aims to build a profile and examine the level of multicultural counseling competencies among secondary school counseling teachers. It also tries to identify the level of multicultural counseling competencies and the differences based on demographic factors which include gender, age, race, level of education, professional experience and location of the schools. This study also tries to acquire feedback from respondents about understanding, the importance of multicultural counseling and training as well as the strategies used and the factors that can increase the efficiency of multicultural counseling. The study was conducted using quantitative and qualitative approaches (mixed method). Quantitative approach was conducted using a questionnaire of multicultural counseling competencies of 275 samples in the state of Selangor. This questionnaire measures three domains of multicultural counseling competencies namely awareness, knowledge and skills. Data was analyzed using SPSS 20.0 software. Descriptive statistics were performed by using frequency and percentage while ANOVA was conducted on the inferential statistics. The results showed that the level of multicultural counseling competencies among secondary school counseling teacher was at the high level. The study only showed a significant differences in the level of multicultural counseling competencies based on the level of counseling training. Qualitative approach was conducted using a case study method in which in-depth interviews were conducted with 15 respondents who have a high level and very high level of competencies. Data was analyzed using Nvivo 8 software. The findings show that respondents have a good understanding of culture, cultural diversity, cultural competence and multicultural counseling competencies. Respondents agree that the competencies is important in counseling because it can facilitate the process of counseling, therapeutic relationship building, understanding the client's worldview and increase the effectiveness of the counseling sessions. Respondents also said that they only received formal training on multicultural counseling and multicultural counseling theory that brings many advantages in providing counseling services. Respondents also used various strategies to increase this competencies. In addition, there are also other factors that can increase this competencies likes the characteristic of the teachers and the application of ICT in counseling services. This research has implications for theories of multicultural counseling, particularly in terms of its suitability to the local culture in enhancing multicultural counseling competencies of school counseling teachers in Malaysia.,PhD | |
