dc.description | This research is a study of the affordable housing problems in Libya particularly in Benghazi. The importance of this research lies in the fact that comprehensive studies of housing problems in Libya have not been conducted. The research is to identify the issues by clarifying the main problems and solving them appropriately. The study will also deal with the affordable housing in Libya by studying the economic factor and the affordability of the population, and finding a possible solution for affordable housing that will be commensurate with materials, technology and develop a suitable design. The research is divided into two parts: firstly, the theoretical element and secondly the practical which embodied field research. The theoretical part involves a literature review of different aspects directly related to housing in Benghazi city. The practical part of the research includes the collection of data via the use of questionnaires, interviews, field visits and photographic documentation of the area under study. The study is to discover the nature and present reality of the affordable housing areas in Benghazi and the problems. The problems of infrastructure, particularly the provision of services are studied in depth. The research will look at solution to the problem identified in the building phase of the housing project by addressing the suitability of the design, material, technology and police of affordable housing. The study concludes with the fact that that Benghazi city is facing various problems in housing. Most of the Libyan population is earning an average income. This research establishes a set of general results, which are suggestions on how to improve the living of the area under investigation. The outcome will focus on developing a guideline for the housing policy in Libya. The most important thing to focus on is the cooperation between the private sectors and the government to ensure the success of the project for the sustainability of construction and development of the houses in the future. These recommendations suggested will help to improve a housing policy guideline in Libya. This research will try to set out some preliminary observations and conclusions based on research to assess concepts and ideas for housing policy, affordable housing and strategy in Libya. Clarifying substantial issues and constrains on the housing strategy in Libya is vital assessing decision-making strategies for future housing policy.,PhD | |
