dc.description | Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETS) are self organized networks where nodes are free to move with a random speeds and/or directions. This randomization causes a dynamic topology changes and minimize the ability the network management control. Furthermore MANETs are backboneless networks where nodes are not connected to any fixed infrastructure and they use the air as the communication media. In the previous eras MANETs where used to communicate in the battle fields and in catastrophic areas where the infrastructured connection cannot be promised. Nowadays the use of MANETs exceeded that where we can find them as extensions to other network types with different topologies, like in conferences or other heterogeneous networks where the Ad Hoc One-Hop connection can be joined with Multi-Hop connection style either through LANs, WANs, or even cellular networks. The enlargement use of MANETs turned it to a hot topic since its users and applications keeps growing. The service provided by such a network needs to be quality assured, therefore, several QoS frameworks are used to maintain the level of users needs in terms of Delay, Jitter, Broadband, Throughput, power consumption and other QoS parameters. There is no research have been done that takes Security in consideration as QoS parameters in MANETs besides the classical parameters. Studies considered Security and QoS coupling in two approaches firstly: the Quality of Security Services (QoSS) which concern about achieving enough security for applications by organizing a collection of security services, secondly: security of the QoS routing protocols, to make sure that finding the right route process that achieve the required QoS parameters is secured from attackers that can form some action for example injecting faulty data that can cause insufficient route. In the other hand integrating security as a QoS parameter is quit new approach. In this study a review of security and QoS is done, and a study of the mobile Ad Hoc attacks and threats is discussed. In real life, where we can hardly find MANETs as a standalone network therefore a heterogeneous topology called HetMAN is proposed that express the existence of MANETs joined with LANs, WANs, and cellular networks. To solve the study contribution several scenarios were tested using the (GloMoSim) simulator. The results shows that integrating security as a QoS parameter can enhance achieving the other QoS parameters mainly the end-to-end Delay, Packet Delivery Ratio, Throughput, and Energy Consumption.,Master/Sarjana | |
