Cloud computing has emerged as an important Internet-based technology which enables data to be saved in multiple servers and provided on demand to customers. It allows for a host of services to be delivered at lower costs, enhanced efficiencies and many other benefits rendering it extremely attractive for use by organisations and individuals. However, processing personal information using cloud computing technology has created data protection issues especially in relation to transborder data flows and the rights of data subjects. This research examines the adequacy of the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) in regulating and overcoming these issues. It also evaluates other legislation relevant to cloud computing technology namely the European Data Protection Directive and the UK Data Protection Act 1998. The findings illustrate that while the PDPA 2010 satisfies basic data protection issues in Malaysia, a review of the Act is necessary to ensure that it will address the new security and data protection demands brought about by cloud computing technology.,Certification of Master's / Doctoral Thesis" is not available
