dc.description | Arabic educational approach plays an important role in building students' potentials and developing their language proficiencies and it is the main element in realizing target educational objectives. The weakness in determining the approach applied brings negative consequence to the educational activity and retards its processes. Nurul Islam College is considered one of the most important Islamic colleges in Arabic education across Cambodia because the early days of its establishment in 1991 was aimed at building students' potentials in both religious and language fields. It is noticeable that the language capability of the students is still weak despite many hours the teachers and management officials spend and devote in that field. Therefore, this study intends to assess the language educational approach of the college and examine its relationship with the educational objectives underlined by putting forward suggestions suitable in developing the educational approach and realizing its objectives. This study uses analytical and assessment methods and the data is collected through collective interviews with eight teachers of the college. This study indicates that the approach applied is not in the right track of achieving the objectives due to several reasons, most importantly the lack of attention by the college in outlining clear and definite target objectives, besides the textbooks imported from Arab countries with their culture and difficult level of language. Likewise, the weakness of the teachers and their unawareness of modern mediums and techniques of teaching are part of the challenges in realizing the educational objectives of the college. This study comes up with suggestions that help develop the educational approach of Nurul Islam College and other similar colleges throughout Cambodia especially in terms of creating school syllabi, training teachers and cultivating the educational objectives in the teachers and students.,Master of Islamic Studies | |
