The Economic Transformation Programme launched in March 2010 by the government aims at propelling Malaysian economy to that of high income bracket by the year 2020. Amongst the characteristics of the economy that is targeted is that they are propelled by entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as being market driven, having good governance and with good regional integration. In 2009, all Malaysian Institutions of Higher Learnings (IPTs) were required to include innovation and entrepreneurship in the curriculum. UKM as a Research University, (which also obtained autonomy recently), is committed to imbibe and inculcate innovative entrepreneurship culture into our academic programs and into our research culture.
