dc.description	The theme of the conference, Communication and Transformation: Progress and Paradox, is not only interesting but also a thought-provoking one. As the Vice Chancellor of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, I hope the conference will be able to discuss the progress and paradox of transformations within the context of the media and communication paradigm successfully. Successfully, in the context of contemporary academia, means this conference will eventually result in substantial publications. I am delighted to know that the conference organiser has already planned for publications of papers that are to be presented in this conference.
