Title: Workplace incivility and its effect on organizational citizenship behavior: the role of emotions as mediators and hostile attribution bias as a moderator
Authors: Nur Farzana Mohamad Nahar (ZP03148)
Abstract: Workplace incivility is on the rise and becoming more common in today’s organization. Although workplace incivility is subtle, the consequences of the behavior are too overwhelming to be ignored. Underpinned by Social Exchange Theory, Affective Events Theory and Conservation of Resources Theory, this study aims to investigate the consequences of workplace incivility. Specifically, this study examined the relationship between workplace incivility and organizational citizenship behavior using a mediation-moderation framework with anger, embarrassment, hurt feelings and contempt as mediators and hostile attribution bias as a moderator. Data were obtained from 359 employees working in Malaysia public sector. The study hypotheses were tested using partial least squares structural equation modelling. The study’s findings revealed that the direct relationship between workplace incivility and organizational citizenship behavior was not significant. In relation to the indirect relationship, the results showed that only hurt feelings and not anger, embarrassment and contempt, mediated the workplace incivility-organizational citizenship behavior relationship. The result of the indirect relationship also revealed that hurt feelings fully mediated the relationship between workplace incivility and organizational citizenship behavior. Finally, the present study found a non-significant effect of hostile attribution bias in moderating the relationship between workplace incivility and organizational citizenship behavior. Theoretically, the present study adds to the body of knowledge by providing some support for; (a) the importance of examining discrete emotions in workplace incivility research, and (b) the importance of Affective Events Theory in explaining the link between a work event and an affective-driven behavior. Practically, the present study informs managements that workplace incivility is a real problem. Experiencing such behavior can disrupt emotions at work, consequently impacting voluntary actions. Hence, it becomes imperative for organizations to deploy effective strategies for curbing uncivil conduct and managing employees’ emotions at work. Future research could expand its scope to ensure the generalization of the results for the overall public sector organization in Malaysia.

Title: Modeling multi-level predictors of academic e-entrepreneurship: empirical evidence across ASEAN countries
Authors: Rico Saktiawan Jang Jaya (ZP04904)
Abstract: The university is widely recognized as an educational hub to nurture student entrepreneurship. However, there has been criticism that the academics are not entrepreneurs themselves. Instead, they merely deliver the knowledge without the practicality of running a business. To shed light on the phenomenon, this study attempts to examine the multi-level factors contributing to academic internet entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Besides, the existing empirical evidence on academic entrepreneurship neglect on multiple levels of predictors and analysis across countries. To fill the gap, this research tests explicitly on three-level predictors: individual (human capital, social capital, and internet competence), organizational (university support), and country level (internet infrastructure). Drawing on social cognitive theory and institutional theory, the study constructs four hypotheses to be tested. It used a quantitative survey data collection among 210 academics across seven ASEAN countries using multiphase sampling. The direct, mediating, and moderating effects are tested through hierarchical regression models using SPSS PROCESS. The results show both human and social capital significantly increase academic internet entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Next, the effect is significantly channeled through internet competence. But the university entrepreneurship support as a moderating variable weakens the relationship between individual predictors and academic internet entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Lastly, country internet infrastructure does not moderate the relationship between individual predictors and academic internet entrepreneurial self-efficacy. In general, the study contributes to the literature and practice by constructing and testing the multilevel predictors of academic entrepreneurship across countries in ASEAN.

Entrepreneurship education and graduate self employment: the mediating role of self-efficacy and moderating roles of university support and family background

Title: Entrepreneurship education and graduate self employment: the mediating role of self-efficacy and moderating roles of university support and family background
Authors: Asmaul Husna Haris Fadzilah (ZP03247)
Abstract: In the current economic situation, the increasing amount of unemployment among graduates has been a major issue in Malaysia. Thus, the government has been promoting entrepreneurship education, particularly among the students in institutes of higher learning, to cater for this issue. Although it is believed that entrepreneurship education has the capacity to solve unemployment problem among graduates in Malaysia, the impact of entrepreneurship education is still undervalued. Therefore, the main objectives of this study were to investigate: (a) the impact of entrepreneurship education on student’s self-employment intention; (b) the mediating role of entrepreneurial self-efficacy on the relationship between entrepreneurship education and self-employment
intention; and (c) the moderating role of perceived university support and family background on the relationship between entrepreneurship education and selfemployment intention. The study employed the quantitative approach comprising of surveys, which were conducted using online and mail methods, as it has the advantage
of achieving higher response rates at lower costs. The Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) and Scoial Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) were selected as the frameworks for understanding this phenomenon. Data were collected via questionnaire involving 388 students from five different public universities in Malaysia. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse respondents’ characteristics and Partial Least Square Structural
Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was employed in determining the relationship among the variables of the study. The results of the study indicated that the entrepreneurship education was positively significant to the self-employment intention with 62.7 percent (R2=0.627). This could be attributed to the effort taken by the Ministry of Higher Education in promoting entrepreneurship among students. All hypothesis were accepted. The mediating role of entrepreneurial self-efficacy was supported and showed a statistically significant positive influence and mediated the relationship between entrepreneurship education and self-employment intention among students to pursue an entrepreneurial career. The study also confirmed that the perceived university support and family background moderated the relationship between entrepreneurship education and self-employment intention among students. The result of the study has valuable implications for policy makers in Ministry of Higher Education, universities and entrepreneurship educators. In addition, the findings of the study contribute to the body of knowledge by producing an informed policy direction to the policy makers and providing support to the important role of entrepreneurship education towards student’s self-employment intention.

Greening healthcare supply chain through corporate environmental strategies towards sustainability performance in the Malaysia private hospitals

Title: Greening healthcare supply chain through corporate environmental strategies towards sustainability performance in the Malaysia private hospitals
Authors: Norzianis Rezali @ Abdul Sukor (ZP03149)
Abstract: The healthcare industry is a sizeable consumer of natural resources and is a generator of both regulated and non-regulated wastes. Nowadays, the healthcare industry is enlightened by the global concern on sustainable performance. With the proliferation of the green hospital concept, green healthcare supply chain practices in the healthcare industry are becoming more significant. However, the growing green healthcare supply chains research field has not been yet mapped on sustainable performance in the healthcare industry. The lack of a green healthcare supply chain conceptualization hinders developing a green healthcare supply chain and sustainability performance framework. Thus, this research explores the current state of corporate environmental
strategy through the green healthcare supply chain that contributes to sustainable performance within the healthcare industry. It also seeks to reveal corporate environmental strategy by studying the green healthcare supply chain practices and their impacts on sustainable performance (economic, environmental and social). In
this research, an inductive qualitative research approach and multiple case study research methods were adopted. Six private hospitals were selected from the healthcare service providers in Malaysia. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews. This research revealed eight corporate environmental strategies that
contributed to sustainable performance: environmental regulation, organizational culture, environmental management practice, environmental management system, corporate leadership, green technology, corporate reputation, and competitive advantage. This finding also was further grouped into sustainable performance pillars (economic, environmental and social). Therefore, a new conceptualization framework of the corporate environmental strategies that integrate with the green healthcare supply chain is developed that contribute to sustainable performance (economic, environmental, and social) exclusively for healthcare industries. Hence, the corporate environmental strategies that integrate with the green healthcare supply chain gives an
insight to the private hospitals for long term benefits. Keywords: Corporate Environmental Strategies, Green Healthcare Supply Chain, Sustainable Performance, Multiple Case Studies, Private Hospitals.
