The rate of loss due to flood is increasing in recent years. Report on flood has mainly focused on the level of flood depth but not the extent of flood overflow. However, the information is important in reducing the rate of destruction. This occurs because there is no tool that can be used to obtain the flood delineation information accurately and quickly. This research therefore aims to build a model that focuses not only on the depth of flooding but also on the delineation of the flood. The model is named InSAFD (Interactive System Analysis for Flood Delineation). InSAFD involves two models which are hydrology models and water balancing model. InSAFD is an interactive system which can interact with the user. It was built using Visual Basic 6 programming language and compiled in dynamic link library. InSAFD concept uses table, so a structured geodatabase table is needed. The geodatabase called geodatabase InSAFD. Lembangan Saliran Daerah Batu Pahat were selected as geodatabase InSAFD for the application of the models in this research. The data involved for InSAFD were area of basin, the amount of rainfall, flow of drainage and rate of surface diffusion. Research activities implemented in stages. Such activities include writing model InSAFD programs using modular writing, extracting and analyzing the basin, and model InSAFD test. Research has found that InSAFD was working properly where it managed to display the locatioan, depth and delineation of the flood. The result findings were compared with a report released by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Malaysia. Location of the flood was relatively accurate. The accuracy of the area using R Squared value was 71%. The study found that InSAFD is very suitable to be applied to flood management system practiced to get the information of depth and wide of the flood. InSAFD is hoped to assist the Jawatankuasa Pengurusan Bencana dan Bantuan Daerah to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of flood management in Malaysia.,PhD | |
