dc.description | Entrepreneurial orientation is a predominant construct of interest in strategic management research. Many studies have been conducted to explicate the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance, however the findings are inconsistent, making it difficult to reach a consensus about the relationship. Hence, it is plausible that other variables may play mediating and moderating roles to encapsulate this relationship. Therefore, this study explores a comprehensive model that examines the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance, with the mediating effect of market orientation and the moderating effects of environmental factors and social media strategic capability in the context of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). A cross-section survey design was employed and responses from 294 SMEs in Indonesia were analyzed using structural equation modeling and process macro procedure. The findings of this study strongly supported the direct hypotheses between entrepreneurial orientation and market orientation and performance. Market orientation was also found to mediate the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance. On the other hand, social media strategic capability moderates the relationship between market orientation and firm performance. The most interesting finding is that environmental factors negatively moderate the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance. All the findings advance the entrepreneurial orientation research and emphasizes the importance of developing appropriate market orientation and social media strategic capability to enhance firm performance. Significantly, the findings give a unique and timely insight and credence to the importance of social media strategic capability and environmental factors in the SMEs sector, especially in the context of Indonesia. Therefore, future studies should explore more on the joint effect of both constructs i.e., social media strategic capability and environmental factors in other context and perspective in the determination of firm performance.,Certification of Masters / Doctoral Thesis" is not available | |
