Description: | Although strategic management's accomplishments and researches have been substantial, it is still confronted by significant challenges which requires further new knowledge and insights in enhancing its understandings. Realizing the essential factors affecting performance and explaining how firms’ strategic choices can influence their operation are the most important issues in strategic management researches. This study investigates the influence of entrepreneurial orientation and environmental dynamism on dynamic capabilities and business performance with the moderating effect of managerial networking. A quantitative and self-administered survey method, using cross-sectional web and mail based questionnaire was used. The study analyses 129 usable data responses from top executives of Malaysian companies. Inferential statistics were used to test the research hypothesis. PLS approach, consistent with standard structural equation modelling precepts, provides the researcher with a greater ability to predict and understand the role and formation of individual constructs and their relationships among each other. The research findings show that application of Resource Based View (RBV) and Industrial Organizational (IO) economic theories are applied in explaining dynamism in the business environment. The other outcome of the research findings emphasizes that studying the interplay between organizations’ entrepreneurial orientations (1), dynamic capabilities (3), and business performance (5) is complicated and cannot be limited to studying the direct effects. The findings indicate the full mediating role of dynamic capabilities (3) in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation (IV) and organizations’ business performance (DV). Moreover, the findings show the negative significant moderating effect of managerial networking (4) on the link between dynamic capabilities (3) and organization's business performance (5). The significance of the research framework is not restricted to a specific viewpoint and has set up a holistic perspective on business performance, its antecedents and mechanisms of evolution, through aggregating several effective strategic variables. Another implication of the research is practitioners should invest in developing and improving the quality of their internal capabilities and skills. These dynamic capabilities may enhance their abilities to identify the dynamism of environmental factors and help them to shape customer demands.,Ph.D. |
