Description: | E-learning is essentially electronic learning and is delivered through a computer. There are three types of e-Learning such as text driven, interactive and Simulation. Simulation in e-learning is interactive and relies upon graphics, video, audio and some of game like element (Gamification). Gamification refers to the use of game elements in a non-game context. This research proposed gamification technique to solve problem in learning technical subject especially programming language. Programming language is one of the important and compulsory technical subjects for departments of Computer Science. A preliminary survey was conducted and the result showed that students have experienced a lack of motivation and lack of interest towards this course that is led to ineffective learning. Some researchers suggested that an enjoyable approach must be adopted in learning difficult subjects such as a game. Therefore, the objectives of this research are to determine the game elements in gamification that are suitable for learning programming languages; to identify learning requirements in programming languages; to develop a gamification framework based on learning requirements and game elements of programming languages; and to validate the gamification framework. The research methodology has three phases, observation, innovation and validation. The observation phase is to identifying existing issues of learning programming language and to identify the way of solving these issues; innovation phase is to construct a gamification framework based on game elements and programming learning requirements and to verify them using qualitative and quantitative research approaches. The validation of the framework is done by conducting a quasi-experiment in order to measure learning programming effectiveness and students’ motivation. The positive results towards gamification website are indirectly validating the framework. The main contribution of this research is a valid gamification-based learning programming language website.,Certification of Master's/Doctoral Thesis" is not available |
