Description: This study addresses the history of the southern region of Thailand known as the Muslim Pattani and its historical problem where the region previously is aligned with the Malay world as much as Malaysia and Indonesia. It is known as an independent Pattani sultanate until it is subjugated by Thailand by force. The study of its history is not something new but what is new is that this study strives to connect the Pattani problem with its resonation among the Arab Gulf States. Likewise, it is well known that the states have given their support to the Islamic World in general and Muslim minorities in specific. The problem of this study lies in the conflict ignited between the Muslims of the southern region and the Thai government following the infamous Takbai incident in October 400 which witnesses the Thai army harshly deals with the demonstrators in Takbai leading to the killing of 68 Muslims. The incident serves as a recollection of the history of Pattani and its original problem with Thailand and the conflict still goes on nowadays and gets the attention of the Arab Gulf States. The objective of this study is to define the Pattani region; elucidate the Pattani problem;explain the awareness of the Arab Gulf States regarding the problem publically and officially; explain the relationship of Thailand with the Gulf States and its consequence; and define the Pattani liberation movements and their influence. This study applies three methods: first, qualitative study, i.e. the investigation of the problem and exposure of its facts through books and studies concerned with the problem; Second, the gathering of sources and data concerned with Pattani and its problem; third, analyzing the sources. Most importantly, it is found in this study that the support of the Arab Gulf States for the Pattani problem is in moral terms apart from some physical assistance. The problem is raised before Islamic conjunctions through the Organization of Islamic Cooperation lest the states are not accused of meddling in the Thai internal affairs. Subsequently, the processes in solving the problem are drawn up in the hope that the Thai government puts a stop to the atrocity and uphold justice for Pattani. The significance of the study is its possibility as a model of support for the Arab countries dealing with the issues of Muslim minorities besides its function as a general stimulus for future studies .,'Certification of Master's/Doctoral Thesis' is not available,Ph.D.
