dc.description | Ruūs al-āy are considered as a point that readers usually stop and continue their recitation of al-Qur'ān. The rules of waqf in reciting al-Quran at ruūs al-āy are vary, as some of the waqf are Tām, and some others are Kāfī and Ḥaṣan, and even some of the waqf are Qābīḥ. This matter becomes more complicated because the scholars of al-cadad are divided in determining ruūs al-āy in al-Qurān to seven schools, namely: al-Madanī al-Awwal, al-Madanī al-Akhīr, al-Makkī, al-Baṣrī, al-Dimashqī, al-Kūfī, dan al-Ḥimṣī, and these schools are considered as a definite sources in determining ruūs al-āy of each qirāāt mutawātirah. Further more, the differences among scholars in classifying types of waqf and its terminologies also contributes to confusion in understanding the rules of waqf in reciting al-Quran. Thus, the objective of this study is to analyze the rules of waqf at ruūs al-āy that has been debated among scholars, and to examines the general pattern of waqf in ruūs al-āy that has been debated among scholars, and also the pattern of waqf rules in these ruūs al-āy based on each of the seven schools of al-ʿadad. On the issue of differences of terminology that has been used among waqf scholars, this study compares between these terminologies and they equality to the division of waqf that was proposed by the majority of waqf scholars, to understand the meaning of each of these terms when making reference to it. The study was conducted using content analysis methods, by performing an deductive method to identify ruūs al-āy that has been debated by al-cadad scholars and was then analyzed syntaxially from the point of Arabic grammar and Quranic interpretation, for the purpose of determining the rules of waqf on the ruūs al-āy. In the matter pertaining to different terminologies of waqf among scholars, the comparison methodology was used to identify the similarities and differences between these terms, before it is being equalized to the opinion of majority of waqf scholars. Among the important findings of this study are; the most of rules of waqf on these ruūs al-āy that has been debated among al-cadad scholars are waqf Kāfī, and followed by Ḥasan and Tām, whereas the less is Qabīḥ. The study also found that some of the meanings of terminology used by waqf scholars is synonymous with another, while the terminology used is the same. Meanwhile some of these terms has an opposite meaning between another, but the terminology used is the same. Furthermore, some of these terms are overlapping each others meaning, although the pronouncement of the terminologies that has been used are different. This study has an impact on the science of waqf and ibtidā, as the knowledge of rules of waqf in reciting al-Qurān at ruūs al-āy helps reader to differentiate between waqf that allows him to dismiss from recitation, namely waqf Tām dan Kāfī, and the waqf that does not allow him to do so, namely waqf Ḥasan dan Qabīḥ. This study also has an impact on printing a muṣḥaf of al-Qur'ān on the different of qirāāt mutawātirah, because each qirāāt mutawātirah and its riwāyāt relies on one of these schools in determining their ruūs al-āy.,Certification of Master's/Doctoral Thesis is not available,Ph.D. | - |
