Description:	This study addresses the topic of acculturation which represents the utmost encounter between Islamic Arabic and Christian Western cultures, this encounter is reflected in the exchange and integration between the two in some arenas as can be seen in the relationship between the Arabic Me and the Western Other in the domain of Arabic novel. This study intends to expound the concept of acculturation and its channels across the history. Likewise, it intends to elucidate cultural encounter between Me and the Other in modern Arabic novels, dwell on the plots of the novel expressing the sound of Me and the Other, and crystallise the arenas which bear the imprints of acculturation, to be followed with an analysis of the portrayals of the Arabs in the environment shaped with acculturation through the views of Arab novelists as manifested in the plots including the sounds and anxieties of Me. This study relies on historical approach which is built on the examination of data and information enough to delve into the meaning of acculturation, and on the structural analysis of the novels examined. This is realised by selecting some samples of the novels from various Arab countries within the boundary of acculturation formation and by discussing some aspects which put together Me and the Other on the pages of the novels. Of the finding in this study is that what is mostly binding the acculturation encounter is attributed to such factors as: colonisation, migration and integration where politics plays a significant role in the East and West meeting especially when some Arab novelists come to study in the West and become directly absorbed into Western thinking. The significance of this study lies in the explanation of the course of interaction between Me and the Other in modern Arabic novels. When reflection is made on the course of history it is found that Islamic Arabic civilisation becomes acculturated with other cultures through adoption, transfer, translation and migration. As to modern time, cultures are becoming open up to one another and mediums of interaction are more accessible compared to the past.,Certification of Master's/Doctoral Thesis" is not available
