Industry 4.0 is about connected technologies that build a cyber-physical organization.Thereby, Industry 4.0 readiness is the degree to which organizations can derive benefits from Industry 4.0 technologies. Though Industry 4.0 focuses on digital transformation alone, Fourth Industrial Revolution is a wider term that incorporates digital, physical, and biologicalt transformation. The purpose of this study is to present and test an integrated Industry 4.0 readiness model that investigates the relationship between leadership, organizational strategy, organizational innovativeness, organizational readiness, and Industry 4.0 readiness. First, organizational readiness is the awareness of the gap and the actions needed to change an organization from its current level to the desired level. In this thesis, organizational readiness has been studied in terms of people, process, and technology, which has been scarcely studied with Industry 4.0 readiness. Second, the mediating relationship of people, process, and technology with Industry 4.0 readiness has been studied in this thesis, which is a neglected area in past studies. Third, leadership, organizational strategy, and organizational innovativeness have been identified amongst the key ingredients for Industry 4.0 readiness, which have been explored further in this thesis. Using Systems Theory, Learning Organization Theory, and Theory of Disruption, this study has six research objectives that examine: the direct relationship of leadership, organizational strategy and organizational innovativeness with Industry 4.0 readiness; and the mediating effect of organizational readiness (in terms of people, process and technology readiness) on the relationship between leadership, organizational strategy, organizational innovativeness, and Industry 4.0 readiness. A cross-sectional quantitative survey design was employed to study the 10 hypothesized relationships of this study. The data was collected from 338 technology companies across the different states of Malaysia. CB-SEM with AMOS software was used for data analysis to rigorously test the complex relationships hypothesized in the model. The findings of this study support the direct and positive relationship of leadership, organizational strategy, and organizational innovativeness respectively with Industry 4.0 readiness. Consequently, organizational readiness in terms of people readiness, process readiness, and technology readiness is found to mediate the relationship between leadership, organizational strategy, organizational innovativeness, and Industry 4.0 readiness. Based on these findings, all the research objectives set earlier in this study have been achieved. In terms of academic contribution, this study advances the existing body of knowledge on change management and technology management literature. The findings emphasize the importance of leadership, organizational strategy, and organizational innovativeness for Industry 4.0 readiness. More importantly, these findings confirm the mediating relationship of organizational readiness in terms of people, process, and technology readiness to predict Industry 4.0 readiness. From a managerial contribution perspective, managers will be able to use this integrated model in their organizations to self-evaluate their Industry 4.0 readiness.,Certification of Masters/Doctoral Thesis" is not available
