Description: | Security is widely acknowledged as a critical problem when implementing mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) since it is vulnerable for routing type attacks. Though providing authentication to the packets at each stage can reduce the risk, it still has the possibility for routing attacks due to the delay in time in reporting and analyzing the packets. Therefore, there is a need to further research on this problem to provide more security efficiency techniques. Thus, this study aims to create a solution for the problem of delay caused by Chang’s Scheme Cooperative Bait Detection is (CBDS) via the Harmony Search Algorithm (HSA). The data for the study were simulated and analyzed using MATLAB. The study finds that HSA showed relatively better packet delivery ratio compared to Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) and CBDS. Similarly, HSA throughput decreases the throughput in comparison to DSR and CBSD respectively. The end-to-end delay results given by the HSA protocol suggest that the time required to transfer packets from source to destination is less than with DSR or CBDS. The time recorded is also low because the time for route discovery at every node is less likely to result in an overall decrease in total end-to-end delay. Based on the study finding, it can be concluded that this thesis has evaluated how HSA can reduce the inherent delay of CBDS. Such an approach detects and prevents malicious Nodes such as black-hole attacks, which are launched in MANET, and at last HSA performs better in comparison to CBDS and DSR.,Certification of Master's/Doctoral Thesis" is not available Publisher: |
