dc.description | A supply chain involves several manufacturing activities, from raw material purchase to final product delivery. Green information and communication technology (GICT) is a key contributor in reducing harmful effects on the environment caused by supply chains. Understanding the GICT within supply chain activities is necessary in order to manage these environmental issues that result from supply chain operations. Furthermore, studies on the impacts of GICT on supply chain management (SCM) are still lacking, especially in Malaysia and Palestine. Thus, this study developed a framework to measure the impact of GICT on SCM based on four factors (environment, social responsibility, economic and technology), and then compared GICT practices between Malaysian and Palestinian companies. The data collection method utilized involved a questionnaire, in which 90 sets of closed-form questionnaires were distributed. Respondents were managers of small and medium-sized food companies with experience in GICT. Linear regression analysis was conducted to verify and validate the framework. An independent sample t-test was also used to investigate the differences between Malaysian and Palestinian companies regarding GICT. The results revealed that these particular factors contributed positively towards supply chain management and sustainable supply chain operations. The results also showed that Malaysian companies used GICT more than those located in Palestine. The factors highlighted are believed to increase the effectiveness of GICT in SCM. Generally, this would be valuable to supply chain decision makers in identifying factors that should be their focus in supporting and increasing the adoption rate of GICT initiatives. It is also recommended for further studies on GICT to be conducted in both Malaysia and Palestine.,Master of Information Technology | |
