Description: | In order to explore students’ metacognitive awareness and attitude, to investigate the relationships between students’ metacognitive awareness, attitude and achievements in Arabic language learning, as well as to examine if the students’ achievements in Arabic language learning vary from socioeconomic status (SES) and level of parent education, this study was conducted in a vocational college Yinchuan Energy Institute in Ningxia Province of China. The participants are a ll the students of 2015/2016 session , majoring in Arabic in Yinchuan Energy Institute, which is 69. The Metacognitive Awareness Inventory(MAI) and the School Attitude Assessment Survey Revised (SAAS R) were utilized to measure students’ metacognitive awareness and attitude, as well as the re lationship between students’ metacognitive awareness, and the relationship between attitude and achievements. A set of questionnaires consisting of MAI and SAAS R were distributed to the sample to assess their metacognitive awareness and attitude. Data were analyzed by the computer Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS V ersion 22.0 ) software with Pearson’s correlation and non parametric tests. The results demonstrate positive correlations between metacognitive awareness and achievement, as well as attitude and achievement. Based on the results, the most significant variable that had an effect on the possibilities of having a higher academic achievement was motivation and self regulation, with a p value close to zero. Based on the research findings, metacognitive awareness and attitude variables have more or less influence on students’ academic achievements, while the key variable for having a higher academic achievement in Arabic language learning in the vocational college of China is motivation and self regulation.,“Certification of Master's/Doctoral Thesis” is not available,Master of Education |
