Jangkaan hasil tanaman boleh didapati dalam lingkungan 20-40%, sekurang-kurangnya ia dapat menjana hasil serta dapat meningkatkan taraf hidup kepada golongan petani dan peladang di kawasan itu.,Agricultural land suitability evaluation has been carried out in Negeri Sembilan which covers the area of ultrabasic soil which can be found in Petaseh and Selaru including the non-ultrabasic soil which is in Senaling, Pilah, Sri Menanti, Johol, Juasseh, Pertang and Peradong. Agriculture land suitability evaluation for this area was carried out using a TROPSEL (Tropical Crop Selection Advisory) program. A small-scale CRYSTAL expert system SHELL, version 4 and 4.5 and the database incorporates land requirements of 20 land characteristics, consisting of climate, soil and interactive characteristics. Type of tropical crops that tested was cocoa, coffee, coconut, guava, mango, papaya, pineapple, oil palm and rubber which that are common can be found in Malaysia. Crop suitable for cultivation in this area was evaluated by entering the land characteristics data such as stoniness, slope, flooding, drainage, soil depth, soil texture, soil pH, salinity, nutrient content and heavy metal (Ni, Cr, Fe, Mn and Co) content into TROPSEL program. In this evaluation process, the TROPSEL help to match the land requirement of the chosen crops from the database with the land characteristics offered by the land site under assessment. Data obtained from the analysis showed that the soil texture for ultrabasic soil was mainly in clay form and for non-ultrabasic soil was dominated by sandy clay loam and sandy silt loam. The soil depth at all sampling stations were exceeding 100 cm deep. The pH values in ultrabasic soil were ranging pH 5.72 to pH 6.25 and for non-ultrabasic soil were ranging from pH 3.47 to pH 6.11. Nutrients availability content in ultrabasic soil were relatively very low and Mg:Ca ratio was less than 1. Heavy metals content especially Fe content in ultrabasic soil was above the threshold of potential toxicity which was ranging 2911.80 – 3088.60 mg/kg. Selection of suitable land use for the land under assessment deduced via maximum limitation method using TROPSEL found that all the crops chosen in ultrabasic soil were in the class of marginal suitable (S3) which is any of the limitation at the area can be improve. In which mean, expected crop yields is in the range of 20-40% but at least this land can produce crops and can generate incomes for the local farmers as well for the cultivators.,Master/Sarjana-
