The absence of dedicated household e-waste regulation, inadequate infrastructures, and lack of stakeholders participations are hindering the efforts towards sustainable handling of e-waste in Kuala Lumpur. In rectifying the ineffective e-waste management, the flows of five common household electrical appliances namely, televisions, refrigerators, air-conditioners, washing machines, and desktop computers, were evaluated using material flow analysis (MFA), to ascertain the present status and sustainability of e-waste management system. Information from secondary data sources, household survey, and interviews with e-waste contractors was utilized to construct the material flow of household e-waste. The results indicate that the preferred e-waste disposal practices among households are: i) sell to scrap collectors (44.02%), ii) storage (22.93%), and iii) discard alongside residual waste (21.83%). Formal collection structures such as recyclables collection day, recycling centers, and drop-off locations are largely unpopular and often overlooked. Under the existing system, majority of e-waste obtained by licensed e-waste contractors are from government institutions and businesses; whereas only 20-30 percent of their total inventories come from households. Based on the MFA, it is discovered that the key to drastically improve household e-waste management in Kuala Lumpur lies in improving the collection mechanism through waste separation at source, which keeps the e-waste from any damaging impurities and increases efficiency of recycling activity. This can be achieved by deliberate legislation, informal sector integration, and incentives conception. Sustainable e-waste management in Kuala Lumpur will bring upon significant environmental advantages such as pollution prevention and preservation of natural resources. Besides, the retrieval of valuable materials from e-waste recycling can bring upon economic advancement for Kuala Lumpur, through prosperous recycling industry and green job creation. All in all, the establishment of household e-waste management in Kuala Lumpur is still rudimentary where effective legislation, coordinated recycling mechanism, and active stakeholders involvements are required for sustainable e-waste management to transpire.,Certification of Master's/Doctoral Thesis' is not available,Master of Science-
