Description: | The implementation of IT risk management help institutions to improve decision making and enhance responsibilities for top management and staff. The purpose of this study is to address the current implementation of IT risk management at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia . It is hoped that the study will help and assist all the staff of UKM to improve and increase risk management awareness through the successful involvement of the university staff in their daily activities and decision-making. The study took a two-pronged approach: quantitative and qualitative. Data are collected through interviews and online questionnaire. The collected data is analyzed using univariate analysis via SPSS. The research findings are classified as positive and negative. The negative findings can be summarized into three main points. Firstly, the risk management work plan has not been executed completely and properly at UKM. Secondly, the risk management concepts are poorly understood by some university staff. Thirdly, the university needs to develop and promote some aspects of risk management policy such as developing a specific risk management assessment or a specific form for registering risks and data saving. The positive findings can be categorized into two main general points, not limited to IT. First, the top management in the university is increasingly interested in implementing risk management completely and successfully to attain the objectives of the university. Second, the people responsible for the implementation of risk management have laid out the required ground rules and policies to manage risks. They have laid out a university-specific framework and formed an efficient policy based on the experiences of prestigious universities. This is a clear evidence that the university is capable in developing and relying on its own sources to move forward. The results attained by the present study may be sufficient to identify the present status of the risk management implementation. Further researches and future studies on risk management are essential to provide the university with the most up-to-date and efficient strategies of overcoming and reducing all potential risks. The value of this research study is further evident in shaping clear application guidelines for risk management, which the university top management can take into consideration in order to face and deal with potential risks.,Master/Sarjana |
