Description: Penyelidikan ini menganalisis transformasi persepsi gender dalam novel-novel dewasa Azizi Haji Abdullah. Sebagai seorang pengarang yang prolifik di Malaysia, Azizi didapati menulis mengikut trend semasa agar karyanya diterima baik penerbit mahupun masyarakat. Perbincangan bertumpu pada analisis intrepretif- deskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan gender memandangkan dikotomi gender turut melambangkan nilai sesuatu masyarakat. Novel-novel Azizi dibahagikan kepada empat fasa iaitu dari fasa 70-an sehingga dekad mutakhir. Pembahagian dilakukan mengikut tahun penerbitan novel kajian. Dasarnya, kajian ini cuba mendalami persepsi pengarang terhadap dikotomi posisi, fungsi dan peranan gender. Hasil kajian mendapati wujud transformasi persepsi gender dalam novel-novel Azizi. Novel-novel fasa pertama memperlihatkan Azizi sangat memencilkan watak-watak wanitanya dan bersifat androsentrisme. Sebaliknya dalam novel fasa kedua watak-watak wanita diberi perhatian istimewa. Mereka mula dilindungi, diberi autonomi, kedudukan dan keluar dari kepompong kebisuan. Novel-novel fasa ketiga pula rata-rata membuktikan Azizi menyelitkan idea-idea kesetaraan gender dalam novelnya. Pengarang berwibawa ini mula cenderung ke akar patriarki dengan kaedah tersendiri iaitu tanpa merendahrendahkan status wanita sebagaimana yang diperlihatkan pada dekad 70-an dalam novel-novel mutakhirnya. Perubahan persepsi gender dalam novel-novel Azizi ratarata disebabkan perubahan milieu dan worldview masyarakat di samping perkembangan sosialisasi dan pemikirannya. Antara faktor yang turut mendorong perubahan ini ialah latar belakang keluarganya, pendidikan yang diterima, kerjayanya sebagai guru, penulis dan editor, usia kepengarangannya dan personaliti Azizi Haji Abdullah.,This study analyses in regards of transformation of gender perception of Azizi Haji Abdullah in his selected novels. As a prolific writer in Malaysia, this study clearly shows that Azizi wrote according to socio-cultural trend in order to obtain the attentions of the publisher and the readers to enable him to promote and market his novels. This discussion focuses on the important of gender dichotomy which symbolizes the values of particular society by using interpretive- descriptive methods and gender approach. According to the year of publication, the said Azizi's novels have been divided into four decades. Basically, the study revealed the author's perception on dichotomy of positions, functions and gender roles. As a result of this research, it found that the transformation of gender perception is exist in Azizi Haji Abdullah's selected novels. The first phase of the novels shows that Azizi has categorized women's characters under androcentrism and patriarchy influence; however as a contrast, the women's characters were given special attentions in his second phase. It shows that the author has started to protect, gives autonomy, voice and position to women's characters. In the third phase of the novels proven that Azizi generally inserted equivalence gender ideas in his piece of works. In his recent novels, this authoritative author has started to be inclined of patriarchy root with distinctive method. He wrote without disparaging the status of women such as the details which were disclosed in the first phase. This study crystal clearly shows that the transformation of gender perception in the Azizi's novels was caused by milieu and worldview changes and improvement in the society. Apart from that, the others factors such as family background, education, career as teacher, writer and editor, socialization, maturity, personality and thinking development of Azizi Haji Abdullah also played and identified as reasons of his transformation of gender perception.,Master/Sarjana
