Description:	Afgahnistan's unique geopolitical attributes has made it a centre of rivalry among great powers. The 1979 Soviet military intervention in Afghanistan sets in a new of war and chaos, this in turn has brought critical changes within the geo-political environment of Afghanistan. The post September 11 era has pitched the US against the Taliban and ushered in a new era for democracy and war on terror. The objective of the study is to analyze the impact of the USSR (1979 - 1989) and the US (2001 - 2013) intervention on geopolitics in Afghanistan. The main method employed is through questionnaires and face to face interviewed. Through convenient sampling, a total of 88 respondents were interviewed using a set of questionnaire and face to face interviewed was also conducted to 5 key respondents to elicit more data about the study. The result of the study shows that significant differences were observed as a result of the USSR and US intervention, especially on the socioeconomic such as education, ethnic participation, professions and Afghanistan's foreign policy. The study also shows that some respondents do not agree that the intervention of the two super powers have benefited the Afghan people.,Master of Philosophy
