The development in the technology of WEB 2.0 has enabled users around the world to get connected and to interact using social media platforms. The use of social media in teaching has also revolutionized the way learning takes place. Despite the growing popularity of social media, the effects that it brings to the learners are still debatable. At higher education levels, steps have already been taken incorporating the use of social media for learning purposes. However, at secondary school levels, educators are still having doubts about using social media due to issues regarding privacy and security in relation to the students. Under the new Malaysian Education Blueprint 2013-2025 initiative, many schools have already been equipped with the latest Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools and 4G Internet connection which enable learning through the use of social media. Thus, this study was embarked. The purpose of this study was to investigate the perceptions of form four students on the usage of Google+ towards improving ESL writing skills. A case study was adopted to carry out this research. 12 students from a class of form four secondary school students were volunteered to participate in the study. The participants were taught using Google+ during their writing lessons by their teacher. Data were collected through focus group interview, individual interview, classrooms observation and document analysis.. Qualitative data were analysed using Burnard’s methods of analysis. The overall findings of the study are that participants had positive perceptions on the usage of Google+ towards ESL writing as it carries a lot of benefits. It enabled them to learn new knowledge in a more interesting manner, and enhanced their writing skills. They also gained a number of benefits, which include: improving IT skills and generate creative writing, having enjoyable and attentive lessons, interactive features of Google+, as well as engaging in an active and interesting lesson. In terms of motivation, learners felt that they were having a sense of purpose, thus becoming more engaged in the writing tasks. As for interaction, learners were interacting more confidently in Google+ writing classes compared to a conventional writing lesson. Finally, the learners’ improvement in writing could be seen after the Google+ learning sessions. The learners could see that their language and writing skills had improved significantly. The implication of the study is that teachers need to be made aware of how to integrate social media as learning tools in the teaching of English as a Second Language (ESL), in particular, in the teaching of ESL writing.,“Certification of Master's/Doctoral Thesis” is not available,Master of Education
