Description: | Abd al-Laṭīf al-Sharjīy al-Zubaydīy al-Yamanī (dead 802H) is one of the Arabic scholars, he has many works one of which is I`tilāf al-nuṣrah fi ikhtilāf nuḥāt al-Kūfah wa al-Baṣrah showing he aligns with the Baṣriyyīn on most questions in the work so much so that he calls them our friends the Baṣriyyīn. However, he has some questions in the work on which he agrees with the Kufiyyīn. A few researches indicate that there are questions showing Al-Zubaydī agrees with the Kufiyyīn, and that the questions are suggested for further study. Likewise, other researchers points to scarcity of academic researches interested in the work I`tilāf al-nuṣrah. Therefore, this study intends to extract, comprehend and analyse the questions as agreed by al-Zubaydī to explain whether al-Zubaydī is right in agreeing with the Kufiyyīn on disputed questions by referring to the views of scholars of the past and present. Likewise, this study aims to explain his methodology in the work and describe the personality of this intellectual figure and his work, by using analytical deductive and descriptive method and exploring the personality of al-Al-Zubaydī using descriptive deductive method. Most importantly, it is concluded in this study that he agrees with them on 20 questions out of the total 223 questions in the work, and that all the twenty questions are distributed among the chapters of the work. His stance in his agreement with al-Kufiyyīn can be referred to the views of the scholars in establishing the authenticity of his opinion on most of the questions, apart from satisfactory arguments and evidences as proposed by al-Kufiyyīn. Clearly, al-Al-Zubaydī is of the Baṣriyyīn school and his work is much inclined to abridgement, not exaggeration that al-Al-Zubaydī calls it al-Mukhtasar (the Abridged or concise). This study may consolidate other studies and researches on the work.,Certification of Master's/Doctoral Thesis" is not available |
