The administration and management of the inheritance of Muslims in Singapore, comes under the authority of Administration of Muslim Law Act (AMLA) that follows the Islamic ruling. However certain cases which involve three important assets such as joint tenancy contract pertaining to HDB (Housing Development Board) estates which comes under the Conveyancing and Law of Property Act, including nomination of insurance money under Insurance Act and Central Provident Fund (CPF) under CPF Act, civil law is enforced much more strongly than the Islamic ruling. The objectives of this study are to identify the whole scenario on how Islamic law pertaining to the administration of the inheritance of Muslims is implemented in Singapore, to identify the conflict between civil and syariah law in the administration and management of inheritance of Muslims in Singapore as well as to provide a critical analysis on the ijtihadi approach taken by MUIS in neutralizing the possibility of conflict between the two laws. This study selected a content analysis method as a research design. Hence, the document analysis and un-structured interviews were chosen as a technique of gathering data. Data acquired in this study have been analysed by using the descriptive analysis. The results of this study show that instruments in transferring property that have been applied in Singapore are faraid and wasiat. In addition, MUIS also applies other instruments such as,hibahal-ruqba and nuzriyah that can be adapted in planning of the inheritance of Muslims in Singapore. As a whole, the planning of the inheritance of Muslims in Singapore has given a huge implication especially on the Islamic associations such as Syariah Court and MUIS in Singapore.,Master/Sarjana
