Description: Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) considers the quality of building’s indoor environment as it implicates the wellbeing and health of inhabitants. Numerous study proves that green building performs efficiently and provides inhabitants with necessary comfort and satisfaction. However, some Green Building Index (GBI)-certified green hotels did not undergo its green certification reapplication upon expiry, resulting with invalid green certification; therefore, termed as a former green hotel. Post green certification expiry period provides no assurance whether these former green hotels still perform sustainably or provide guests with comfort and satisfaction. This study aims at monitoring indoor environment comfort of former green hotel guestrooms in two-time period (during and post green certification validity) and its implication on guests’ satisfaction. A quantitative approach is utilized via 2 data collection technique; Data mining to extract online reviews from travel websites via Data Miner software, manual filtration by filtering through reviews and tabulating results based on list of keywords representing pre-set IEQ complaint indicator and lastly, analyzed using frequency and percentage analysis. Online questionnaire distributed in 2019 for target population of 384 hotel guests who stayed at the former green hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia after its green certification expires and data is analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) Descriptive statistics tests in measuring the correlation and mediation between variables. The findings show that guests do experienced issues and expressed dissatisfaction for both time periods, however, more dissatisfaction is recorded after the expiry of its green certification for 3 IEQ parameters; indoor air quality an increase of 10.5%, lighting an increase of 3.3%, visual/ view an increase of 8.9%, except for thermal comfort a reduction of 8.4% and acoustic/ noise recorded a reduction of 14.3%. Additionally, guests’ comfort does have a significant positive mediating role between the independent variables IEQ 5 parameters; indoor air quality, thermal comfort, lighting, visual/ view, acoustic/ noise and green certification validity period; During and post validity, against guests’ satisfaction (dependent variables). The main contribution of this study monitors the indoor environment performance of former green hotel guestroom throughout its building operational lifespan and the mediating role of hotel guest’s comfort with their satisfaction.,Master of Science
