Research finding from literature review reveals among the attributes of domestic courtyard is introverted orientation (privacy), space organizer, transitory space, climatic moderator and multi-functional space. These attributes are also observed in the inventory-case study of Omani traditional courtyard houses. Finding from literature review of Islamic teachings reveal some issues in domestic living: privacy, systematic code of living, coexistence with environment and humility/moderation. From the survey, domestic courtyard is used throughout the year for daily activities and provides privacy, security and multi-purpose outdoor internal environment.
