dc.description | Single crown that used to restore vital and endodontically treated teeth (ETT) have promising short-term clinical outcome. However, its long-term survivals depend upon several factors. Therefore, this study aims to assess the effect of different patient-, toothand restorative-related factors on long-term survival of crown on both ETT and vital tooth. Data of 49 patients supplied with 88 single crowns on 23 vital teeth and 65 ETT were analysed. The estimated survival rate of crown was calculated using Kaplan-Meier statistics. Variables associated with survival of crown were assessed by multivariate Cox-regressions analysis. Endodontically treated teeth suffered more complications like periodontal disease, secondary caries, extraction, porcelain wear and fractures than their vital counterpart. Secondary education level was the most significant risk factor for crown failures on ETT, resulting in hazard ratio of 8.8 [95%CI 2.71-28.57]. High failure rate was found on maxillary posterior ETT with single crown. Long-term longevity of crowns was higher on vital tooth than ETT. In conclusion, crowns on ETT show dismal long-term survivals. Level of education and tooth type appear to indicate risk for failure on ETT with crowns,Ijazah Doktor Pergigian Klinikal (Pergigian Restoratif) | |
