Description: | Nowadays, public universities in Iraq are suffering from the low performance level and the Iraq's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research intents to increase the level of universities performance through designing effective Performance Measurement System (PMS) and supporting Organizational Culture (OC) that motivate the academic staff to work better. The lack of research on the moderating impact that OC has upon the relationship between CPMS and Work Performance (WP) at individual level has initiated this study. Drawing upon goal-setting theory, this study investigates to what extent CPMS and OC influence WP, as well as the manner in which the CPMS-WP relationship is moderated by OC. Data were gathered through survey questionnaires distributed to academic staff in 10 Iraqi public universities who were selected using multi-stage sampling technique. Partial Least Square (PLS) was used for data analysis. The findings demonstrate that CPMS and OC have a significant and positive linkage with WP, while the moderating effect of OC is contradicted with the theoretical arguments. The findings contribute to provide a better understanding of relationship between PMS, OC and WP in the educational environment within developing countries, specifically Iraq, a context that has been neglected in previous studies. Regarding practical implications, the findings show that leaders in higher education who are looking to establish strategies for creating a perfect environment working to academics would benefit from expending their efforts on aligning the performance measurement system with organizational culture.,“Certification of Master's/Doctoral Thesis” is not available,Master of Accounting |
